The Flores Altar Chair is an art object from inter-disciplinary artist, Valeria Florescano. Inspired by the Oaxacan technique and tradition of poured wax and molded flowers, Florescano has reimagined this in the form of an altar-chair, all of which have been sourced from all over Oaxaca, and transformed into a living candle. Living, because the natural patina and molding of the wax will eventually shift in color, molded by the elements that surround it. Individually molded wax flowers encompass the altar-chair, creating a smattering of pattern, so unique that no chair is exactly alike, making each a one-of-one art piece.

An incredibly unique art piece, it is a perfect example of a traditional craft technique, made authentically, yet re-contextualized in a new format and execution, which also creates a dialogue amongst the materials it is made from.

The piece may be installed on the floor, or affixed to the wall, which is traditional in homes all over small towns in Mexico. Install Brackets will be provided.  Available in seven colorways in this format, each chair is available for pre-order.
