By Madre is thrilled to launch our signature scent, after 3+ years in development from ideation, to completion, in the form of our newly launched bespoke candle line.

The first expression of By Madre Scent is encapsulated in two elegant wabi-sabi sculptural vessels (8 oz and 30 oz) made of the highest quality and aesthetic, meant to look like they have existed once upon a time. 

Developed in collaboration with the talented and award winning Los Angeles based ceramicist, Kiku Liu, who, inspired by the scent, translated our concept into beautiful physicality.

The 8 oz  vessel is made from a fantastic clay, with a final appearance in color similar to a charcol. The clay is deep, smooth, moody and dare we say, sexy.

Perfectly imperfect, these vessels are lovingly built, fired, stamped, glazed, and poured by hand, locally in Los Angeles, in a process that takes weeks, from beginning to end. Each vessel comes with its own hand-made lid, to protect your candle in between burns. 

Due to their hand-made nature, each object is essentially unique. Made in small batches, each object takes on its own natural form due to Kiki's pressure, as well as unique tones and hues based on its position in the kiln. Any inconsistencies in appearance from one to another is a sign of its authentic and hand-made nature and are a sign of quality and craftmanship. 

As part of By Madre's commitment to sustainability, each time we make an object, we aim to consider its full lifecycle. Conceived to live on after its first life, these vessels are made & finished with food-safe clay & glaze, these functional art objects will live on, after the candle is finished.

Fragrance & Candle notes:

Wax is made from a specialized blend of soy, blens. Burn candle for at least 4 hours on your first burn to avoid tunneling. Please trim your wick each time before lighting your candle.

Please treat this candle vessel and lid like any ceramic or delicate art object. Handle with care.

Materials: Clay, glaze, blend of wax (soy, paraffin, coconut), cotton waxed wick.

Care: Handle as you would fire. Do not ingest. Do not burn unattended. Do not continue burning once you see the bottom of the vessel. Use boiling water (with care) to remove the rest of the wax; wipe away and consider repurposing as household vessel & art object. Do not place the lid on your candle until the fire is safely out and all smoke has dissipated. Keep away from children & pets. Do not place the lid on an open flame.
