By Madre's Large "Margarita Patricia" Mochila is part of the Margarita Geometric Collection named after the founder's mother. In Colombia, sometimes each aunt gives the baby a name. The founder's mother has four, hence the style names: Margarita Maria Leida Patricia.
The "mochila" is a cultural emblem of Colombia and one of the country's most recognizable craft objects, woven & crocheted by hand in line with ancient techniques. Traditionally, the 'mochila' comes in specific shapes, colors, and materials attributed to the tribes that made them–historically, these characteristics identified the tribe of the person wearing it.Today, they come in all shapes and sizes. By Madre mochilas are identifiable because of their extremely high quality, elegant proportions, and evergreen rich color palettes in which they are woven, which are unique to the brand.
By Madre's Mochilas are all hand-made in Colombia by artisans that are part of the Wayuu tribe. This product is cultural denomination certified and made by collectives of women who pass down this tradition from generation to generation. By Madre has specifically chosen elements to create our perfect formats, formats, and craft techniques which make-up our Mochila collections.

Care: Mochilas may be wiped down or gently washed on their own with soap and tepid water and hung to air dry. Do not put in the washing machine. They have been pre-washed so shrinkage and bleeding should not occur, but it might. Like any object made by hand, there may be inconsistencies in color, thread-length, and potential flyways. This is how you can tell it is an authentically hand-made product. Trim carefully as needed.
